I found this to be fun and captivating I mean who doesn’t like to get great prizes at the end that works well in your favor? Not only did it drive me to remember past lessons it made me revise my notes more frequently because hey no one wants to be labelled that person who caused everyone to lose prizes that could have been beneficial in the long run. By doing the game show it made us work together more to solve the questions, it in a way bonded the class together as a team. You didn’t feel like you were alone because you were given the opportunity to call upon your fellow classmates or group mates to assist you when you couldn’t figure out a question.
Some of the short stories we looked at in our English Composition I class were My Name is Margaret by Maya Angelou, What You Don’t Know by Lulu Wang, Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemmingway, Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. Reading these stories and seeing the authors different writing process really helped me to develop mine more before I was used to getting told what the literary devices in a story was we didn’t have to think for ourselves but professor Mangini pushed us past our limits. After reading stories and getting a clearer understanding of the different literary devices from professor Mangini I can identify them with no issue. Just to name a few literary devices: themes which are the man idea or the underlying meaning of a literary work, which may be stated directly or indirectly, motifs which are objects or ideas that repeat itself through a literary work and symbols which are used to signify ideas and qualities by giving them a symbolic meaning that differentiates from their literal sense. In our ALP sessions we got more one on one time with professor Mangini to talk about previous lessons we just had in class if we didn’t understand a certain area, we got time to work on our blog posts, life – choice memoirs and research papers. He would walk around and ask if everything was okay, if we needed help with anything or if we wanted him to take a look at whatever we were working on. This for me was a good concept because there were times when I was lost and didn’t know how to structure my ideas and put them together or having writer’s block and his feedbacks helped to steer me back on the right path, most teachers would just leave you to do it by yourself and not care but he was more hands on, they need more teachers like him, his classes were well taught and I was able to understand everything it was like he could see the areas where you were struggling. This really helped me to meet my deadlines for blog posts and other assignments. I will never forget all the new techniques I learned in his class.

When Professor Mangini told us we would be making websites that would act as our portfolios I was very excited because I had never done anything like that before. I made sure to be there bright and early that day so that I wouldn’t miss out on the information, he showed us how to make the different pages, provide links to blog posts and websites, how to add categories and how to attach files from Microsoft word. At first, I thought it would be more complicated, but he made it so easy and we were finished within minutes. After that was completed he helped us coauthor some of our page introductions which was very helpful and allowed us to work on the remainder by ourselves. This experience was definitely different from what I’m used to in an English class, before I used to handwrite papers or type them up depending on what the teacher told us to do and receive them back next class with the grades on top, occasionally the teachers would misplace the papers which left you to rewrite them or without a grade. Having all my work on the website is helpful because the work was neater, and I didn’t have to search my room for previous drafts I just went to the page and pulled it up on my computer which saved a lot of time and I can revisit past work and make changes where necessary.
Working on my blog assignments every week made me establish good writing habits such as: researching this improved the quality of my content and ensured that the arguments I put forward were strong, another habit is taking notes which is an essential part of blogging. This allowed me to retain many good ideas, bookmarking came in quite handy when I was working on my research paper this allowed me to save a lot of time during the writing process and lastly citing sources which is important, so you don’t get hit with plagiarism. It helped me to develop my communication skills through meaningful writing experiences. It motivated me to write well and pay attention to details I normally wouldn’t, it also made me interact with other students in the comment section and collaborate with them. By taking this class, I learned the true definition of composition which is to combine two or more communicative elements to make meaning, after putting in the hard work and combining different ideas I can finally see the transformation Professor Mangini always talked about. From this experience I walk away with a greater love and knowledge of the subject and I will also continue to use the information I obtained in my regular day to day writing and who knows maybe I’ll start another blog but I’m not sure what it will be about just as yet, I will also share the information I collected with those who are eager to learn more about the topic or even those who don’t know much about it but want to learn. I couldn’t wait for my Summer II Probability and Statistics class to end so I could enjoy a little relaxation, but it was soon short lived. It seemed as if I had only gotten one day of rest because it was soon time again for me to wake up and get ready for school once more. I got dressed and waited for my sister to pick me up, as I entered the car she could tell that I was extremely nervous. She reassured me that everything would be fine and that seemed to ease my mind a little, we laughed and talked the whole ride there. We said our goodbyes and I was on my way to the administrative office to get a new sticker for my school ID, I expected to see a long line of people waiting to get through, but it was the complete opposite it was more of a ghost town in there. I entered my number into the computer and shortly after I was called to cubicle 3, where I was greeted with a warm smile, before leaving I asked the lady behind the glass if she knew where I could find my class she wasn’t that certain, but she pointed me in the direction of the glass building I told her thank you and headed out.
Once I arrived there I spoke to a girl that was sitting behind the front desk and she assured me that I was in the correct building and that I should take the elevator to the 4th floor which I did but couldn’t find the room number, I assumed that I was in the wrong building and left. I asked several employees to direct me and none of them knew how to, I remember thinking “it’s a good thing you came early because this must be a joke.” Although it wasn’t my first time at Delaware County Community College’s Marple location I found myself wondering the campus looking for the correct building and the classroom. After thinking all hope was gone I came across a security guard who pointed me in the direction of a brick building, not getting my hopes up I thanked him and went on my way. I got on the elevator for what seemed to be the fortieth time that morning when it finally arrived on the 4th floor I realized it was in fact the right place, walking down the hallway and bending the corner I saw that the door was closed and a few people leaning on the wall. I stopped and texted my sister that I had finally found the room and just waited for the teacher to arrive, shortly after a man wearing a striped shirt said, “good afternoon” and proceeded to enter the code that unlocks the door. We entered and took our seats and he began to write questions on the white board along with what we would be doing in class that day and the other time we met, when he was finished writing he turned around with a broad smile and introduced himself as Sabatino Mangini, he went on to show us his website where we would find all our assignments along with other useful tools that would help us in our writings and tell us more about himself. After he told us to take out a sheet of paper to write down the questions he had written on the board and answer them, one question was to reveal a secret no one else knew I was not sure what it was for but answered them anyways. He walked around and collected them, when he had everyone’s paper he told us we would have to guess who the secrets belonged to and share the stories behind them next class. I could tell this was going to be different from what I was used to in Jamaica and I was right he joked and told us about his personal life which let you relate to him more. When it was almost time for us to leave he ended the session by saying “PC keep it real holla at your boy, holla at your boy!!” I instantly knew I would like his class.
Introduction
This week's blog post is to provide focus on the reflective Writing techniques in which I used to execute my Life-Choice memoir and research paper. I will be answering the questions above so you the readers can get a better insight of what went into writing the paper. 1. Who did you work with to compose your research paper? Was this a good approach? To compose my research paper I worked with my sister and my English Composition I teacher. This was a good approach because I took the advice given to me and applied it to my paper to make it stronger. 2. What rhetorical mode and genre are you using? The rhetorical mode used for this paper is argumentation and the genre is MLA research paper. 3. When did you write this project ? Good approach? I started writing this paper at home and continued working on it in my ALP sessions. Yes, it allowed me to get feedback from both my teacher and sister . 4. Where did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project at home in my room, at my sister's living room and also in my ALP classes. It was a good approach all the environments were quiet which allowed me to concentrate. 5. Why did you choose to write about your chosen topic? Good choice? I chose to write about this topic so that I could bring awareness to the issue and also to inform the the readers of the health risks. 6. How did it feel to write this argument ("during, after, and since")? Do you have any "if only" moments that can help you revise the draft ? It was a challenge to begin but once I started there was a lot of information to go through on which direction I wanted the paper to go. 7. How will you revise your argument? To revise my argument i'm going to take my teacher's feedback into consideration and find more information to make my paper more solid.
Moore, Michael, Director. Where to invade next 2015 documentary In the documentary Moore traveled to France to learn about the school lunches they served the students. He was certainly not prepared for what he saw next, each student went and sat at their table and waited patiently for the food to be served to them. They had four course meals that were prepared by a chef and they ate from real dishes and ate with knives and forks. He learned that lunch was treated as a class where they taught proper etiquette and about healthy foods After watching the documentary, I concluded that Moore was trying to show us that we should put more effort in what we feed our children at schools even if the ingredients cost more. The French charge less for lunches so even the less fortunate schools could afford these lunches, the government can afford to do this because they charge higher income taxes. This is relevant to my research paper because it shows that kids and adolescents can enjoy eating healthy delicious food which give the energy to learn more rather than eating junk food which slows them down and leads to health issues. García, Justin D., PhD Nutrition in Schools Salem Press Encyclopedia, January 2017. 2p. In the article Justin García states that 30.4 million students across the United States ate school lunches daily for the year of 2014. It goes on to tell that the United States has one of the highest obesity rates of any nation in the world and shows the percentages and age groups of children and adolescents who were either overweight or obese. The author lists some of the medical issues that can arise and the increase it has on health care costs, he brings attention back to 2009 when First Lady Michelle Obama advocated an initiative for kids to increase physical activities and have healthier food choices. The bill was passed in 2010 but faced strong criticisms. Although health and nutrition experts supported the initiative some elected officials disapproved causing the food industry to spend $5,000,000 to compete against the guidelines that were put in place. High calorie and low nutrient foods are cheaper than healthy wholesome foods which led the new lunch prices to go up by 14 cents, the kids complained that the serving amount was not enough to sustain their appetites, many even refused to eat which led to an increase in hungry for the remainder of the school period. After considering these one million students and over three hundred school districts dropped the program, requirements pitted calorie counts against portions, costs rose, food waste soared, and staff morale plummeted. This article is relevant to my research paper because it gives me an extensive look on how adults as well as children react to the topic of nutrients in lunches. Buffenbarger, Amy Quality of School Lunches Questioned 2002-2017 National Education Association In the article Amy shares that meat being provided to our nation’s students in their lunches may not meet requirements by the fast-food industry. She states that the nation’s largest fast-food chains have a higher quality and safety standards for the meat they use than what the U.S. Department of Agriculture has for the meat used for the National School Lunch Program, which is served to 31 million students a day and that fast-food chains test their meat five to ten times more often than the USDA for bacteria and would reject meat that the USDA deems safe for consumption. This expresses that the ideals for meat sent to schools and retailers are so different, after reading some more I found that 8,500 schools across the country did not have their kitchens inspected at all in 2008, and another 18,000 schools did not complete the two required yearly inspections. Although USDA needs states to provide the number of schools that have been inspected, but don’t keep record of school names. Cafeteria inspections are not free, the money is not automatically provided to meet the mandate. Cafeteria needs are not often a top priority. This helps me to argue that schools do not always get the freshest produce from their suppliers which could cause the children to suffer from different health issues. Long, Heather, School lunch shaming: Inside America's hidden debt crisis, May 2017 The article talks about what is done when a student cannot afford their school lunches, it is called “school lunch shaming”. This is when the hot lunch is taken from them and they are given a brown paper bag with a cold cheese sandwich and a box of milk. 76% of America's school districts have kids with school lunch debt, according to the School Nutrition Association. She goes on to tell us that New Mexico banned any form of lunch shaming. Which highlighted this hidden crisis in schools and started a national conversation about what to do when students can't pay. The federal Department of Agriculture, which oversees school meals, is requiring that districts at least have a written policy in place by July 1. I disagree with the fact that they were embarrassing and singling out students who didn't have enough money for lunch. I like that the US Senator Tom Udall of New Mexico introduced the Anti-Lunch Shaming Act bill in Congress, to ban schools from singling children out by requiring them to wear wristbands or hand stamps or do extra chores if they have unpaid lunch bills. This helps to bring awareness to my research paper, it shows what students went through and are still going through in today’s society all over the world. Buttriss, Judy Nutrition, Health and School children, December 2002 This article is mainly speaking about the nutritional requirements such as: dietary reference values, fluid requirements and the growth and development a child ages 4-18 should obtain from school lunches. It also brings attention to the different food groups that should be incorporated in their lunches and the amount of energy they intake from them. Judy goes as far as mentioning the physical activity patterns in a child and the health implications that can manifest through the diet of children, a few she listed were: obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. There has been changes in the leading concerns about the diets and health of school aged children, the focus has been on the delivery of necessary nutrients and energy in relation to current and future needs, but providing dietary balance and encouraging less inactive lifestyles are now viewed as the main priorities. Young children (4–6 years old), between 40–69% are inactive, in fact children are typically eating less than half the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. One in five (4–18 year old) ate no fruit at all during an average week according to Judy’s article. This article will help me get a better understanding on food proportions as well as give me more information on the nutrition and energy intake a child needs to function. Harrell, Heather Children Need Sufficient Time to Eat School Lunches, February 2017 Heather speaks about the struggles of short lunch periods, which causes some children not to eat or if they do they have to do it in a rush so that they can finish with time to spear so that they can get to use the restrooms and get back to class on time. 20 minutes for lunch isn’t enough time for children, you have to take into consideration those who have to wait in long lines to purchase and collect their foods. From my personal experiences most times students have to wait at least 20 minutes to be served because of many reasons such as: the food you ordered isn’t ready as yet or the person serving you is taking their own sweet time. From this argument I will be able to argue lengthening the lunch breaks or letting students out of class earlier to beat the long lines.
Introduction
In this blog post I will be choosing three topics from the documentary Where to invade next and making research topics to debate whether I agree or disagree based on the information I obtained. I will also be providing a link to my summary.
I believe American schools should provide healthier lunches for their students. Reason being healthier lunch choices will improve children’s nutrition which will improve children’s wellbeing and improve children’s health. For example: children who eat healthier lunches improve academically. According to www.scholastic.com, children will be more alert, they will be healthier which will cost less for healthcare and less time out of school because of health issues.
Prisoners should have the right to vote and work after incarceration. As of right now there aren’t any laws in America that allows prisoners to get back in society and live as normal citizens in America. I believe this only drives prisoners back to prisons because they have no way of getting back into society. Businesses won’t hire if they know someone has served time and therefore, the same laws which prevents them from hiring also prevents them from voting. These laws tyrannize individuals and half the time they end up back in prison because it is so hard for them to fit back into society.
This is a touchy topic however I believe that a woman should have the right to choose and make all decisions when it comes to their bodies. I say this to say that only women know if can manage the responsibilities that comes with having a child or want to go through that process in having a child. I believe this should not be an issue with the federal government or state legislators if women want to do abortions. Take a look at the many children in foster care, take a look at the many women who have children and cannot provide when fathers are nowhere to be found. Look at the many children roaming the streets being a nuisance to society. What I’m trying to say is women should not be forced to have these children because it’s no help to society having them and cannot take care of them. ReferencesFood For Thought. (2017). In the documentary Where To Invade Next, Michael Moore visits various European countries as a one man army to examine their views on everyday issues such as: work, health care, education, equality etc and to claim their ideas and practices for the United States of America. The first country on his invasion list was Italy, upon his arrival he notices that Italians are very happy and his reasoning for this is because they have a lot of sex. He first met with a couple Gianni and Cristina who told him about their eight weeks paid vacations every year, along with the 15 day paid honeymoons they receive. They went on to share that they receive two months full salary for one month of work in December, this left Michael dumbfounded. After getting this information he leaves to speak with the CEO'S of the Lardini Company and the Ducati Motorcycle Company to find out how they make any money if they pay their employees for all these times off, they believe lots of vacation times employees are less stress, healthier, more focused and happier. They explained by paying good wages with good benefits the company maintained good profits. While at the companies he finds out they give five months full paid maternity leaves and two hour lunch breaks and the employees go home to eat lunch with their families.
Next he visits a school cafeteria in France where they are served four course meals, lunch time is considered a class a full hour where they learn about healthy foods. Once a month the chef meets with school and city officials along with a dietitian to go over what will be served for lunch. The food is served on china ware, they do not wait in lines the food is brought out to them and they drink a lot of water, the French charge less for school lunches than the United States. He wonders how they afford to do this when they provide free health care and nearly free day care, the answer to this is they pay higher income taxes. The third country he visited was Finland, which is ranked to have the best educated people in the world. Finland and America used to be ranked on the same level, Michael finds out they do not give home work and if they do have it takes up to 10 minutes. They believe kids need time for themselves, the younger kids go to school for twenty hours a week. They have the shortest school days and shortest school years in the entire western world, there are no standardized tests. He traveled to Slovenia where the universities are free, students have no debts. When the Government decided to start charging tuition the students protested, they managed to delay the law which caused the government to collapse. His next stop was Germany, they work thirty-six hours a week but get paid for forty. If they feel stressed out they can get their doctors to write a prescription for a free three week spa, it is a law that they must have a supervisory board which consists of fifty percent of the workers. It is also against the law for bosses to contact employees while they are on vacations, on weekends or after working hours. Everyday in German schools they learn what their predecessors did, they have signs outside of homes and on sidewalks they have engravings that have names of the Jewish family that used to live there that were taken away and killed. Next he visited Portugal the country that helped bring slavery to the Americas, on the day he "invaded" they were celebrating May Day this is a celebration of workers that is held all over the world. In some countries it is a day off from work but not in the United States. They do not arrest people for using drugs, it is not considered a crime. After decriminalizing all drugs, drug usage went down. In Portugal prisoners are allowed to vote. In Norway he learned about their prison systems, the first prison he went to was the Bastoy Prison. The "prisoners" wear regular clothes, they have their own rooms and keys. There are one hundred and fifteen inmates and four guards, they do not give them harsh punishments the only punishment they get is to not see their family and friends. The next prison he went to was Halden Maximum Security Prison, inside Michael could not believe there was modern art on the walls, they had their own rooms and keys, record label, library and the prisoners are taking art and philosophy classes. Michael was shocked to see that the guards did not have guns. Tunisia has free Government founded women's clinics and abortions. Abortion in Tunisia has been legal since 1973, there was a revolution on January 14, 2011 and overthrew the dictator. They formed a Democratic Government, when they decided that they did not want women's right in the constitution, the women took to the streets in protest majority of the nations people stood behind them and they were granted equal rights. The last stop was in Iceland, on October 24,1975 ninety percent of women did not go to work on this day. Five years after Iceland is the first country to democratically elect a woman president, women controlled nearly half the seats on company boards and nearly half the seats in Parliament. He learned that when much of the world went into recession there was only one financial institution in Iceland that did not loose money for their customers which was run by women. People in Iceland believe that men think off of impulse while women think it through thoroughly, when the banking collapsed they prosecuted seventy bankers and arrested almost all of them. At the end of the documentary we realize that all the ideas that the other countries are implementing came from the United States of America.
Introduction
This week’s blog post is to provide focus on the Reflective Writing techniques in which I used to execute in the first draft of my Life-Choice Memoir. I will be answering the following questions above so you the readers can get a better insight of what went into writing the project. 1. Who did you work with to compose your life-choice memoir? Was this a good approach? To compose my life-choice memoir I worked by myself and in my ALP class I listened to my other classmate’s readings. Yes, I believe it was a good approach, after listening to the advice that was given I went home and applied them in my own writing. 2. What rhetorical mode and genre are you using? The rhetorical mode being used is narration and the genre is creative nonfiction. 3. When did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote 500 words in my class on Tuesday, then another 500 in my ALP class the same day and I also wrote when I was at home or whenever another scene popped in my head. 4. Where did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project in my English Composition classes, at home and I jotted down in the car when I was out running errands. It was a good approach because both the class and home environments were quiet which allowed me to concentrate on the task. Jotting down in the car helped increase my focus level. 5. Why did you choose to write about your chosen topic? Good choice? I chose to write on this topic because I wanted people to get a sense of my life and see how I handled the situation I was faced with. I think it was a good choice, it helped me to think things through before I make decisions. 6. How did it feel to write this narrative ("during, after, and since")? Do you have any "if only" moments that can help you revise the draft? As I was writing this piece I was hesitant because I was thinking about how I would be looked at by others, after writing it I felt okay because I know a lot of people did things in the past that they regret. Since writing it I feel as if a burden has been lifted. 7. How will you revise your narrative? I will listen to the opinions of my teacher, friends etc. Make the necessary changes and add on to complete the project
Introduction The Lottery is a short story written by Shirley Jackson in 1948. The story is about a small village that had an annual event called the lottery, which was overseen by Mr. Summers. The children of the village would gather rocks until their parents called them to standby their sides. The head of the household (the men) would go up and draw slips of paper from a black box. Whoever drew the slip with a black dot was the family chosen for the lottery; in this case Mr. Hutchinson’s family was chosen. There were five people total in Mr. Hutchinson’s family, Mr. Summers placed five slips in the box and each member to draw, Tess (Mrs. Hutchinson) drew the slip with the black dot. She proceeded to the center of the circle where she was stoned to death by the members of the community as well as her family members. In this post I will also be answering the question above whilst sharing an instance of a family tradition I broke. Are there any American traditions that share similarities with the lottery tradition in the village? 1. qz.com/1065207/college-hazing-continuously-results-in-death-why-do-we-keep-the-tradition-alive/ 2. www.nytimes.com/2017/09/14/us/lsu-fraternity-hazing-death.html 3. www.cnn.com/2015/11/02/us/fraternity-hazing-deaths/index.html The American tradition that is comparable to that of the Lottery tradition in the village is hazing. Hazing is the practice of a ritual or activity involving abuse and or humiliation as a means of initiating a person into a group such as a fraternity or sorority. In the Lottery tradition, it was mentioned that they stoned a woman. This can be seen as abuse or torture. Abuse and torture in some cases can lead to death. This is seen in the situation mentioned in the story as the woman succumbed to her injuries as a result of being stoned. Even though individuals are aware of the consequences of such rituals or practices it is continued repeatedly, as no one speaks out against it or even question the reason for such behavior and as such, these activities are being passed down from generation to generation. When have you made an important choice to break away or not break away from a strong cultural tradition you shared with a family, friend, or culture? My mother is a Christian woman so from as long as I can remember my mother would always take us to church, I didn’t refuse because 1. I had no choice and 2. I really enjoyed going to our church and seeing the women in their different colored skirt suits and the men in their three-piece suits. The church was always lively and you could hear the music from two blocks over along while the congregation sang. There was a lot of dancing and some of the church members would run around the church down the aisles falling on the floor and speaking in tongues. The sermons were relatable, the pastor knew just how to break it down so everyone could understand. We would go every Sunday, Easter, Christmas and every church event, yep we were that family. When I was around 10 years old we moved and started going to another church down the road from our house, it wasn’t as lively as my last church but I still went just to try it. Overtime I started to lose interest because it wasn’t as lively as my previous church and the sermons became harder to understand. As I got older I would miss a service every now and then until I just stopped going altogether. My mother wasn’t pleased but I had to stay true to myself and salvage the ounce of belief that I had left.
Introduction In this week’s blog, we will be looking at the short story Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway. The story was written and first published in the literary magazine Transition in August of 1927. The story is about an American man and a girl (his lover) who are at a train station drinking and contemplating whether to go through with the girl’s pregnancy, however this isn’t the final destination for the pair this is simply a stopping point between Barcelona and Madrid. The characters need to decide what they are going to do and think about the impact it will have on their relationship. I will also be responding to the following questions above and sharing my own story of staying in a difficult situation. Does the girl in the story keep the baby? Does she stay in her relationship with the man? At first, I didn’t know what to choose because it seemed as if the American’s persuasion was having her second guess everything. I truly believed that the girl would do anything to please the man to make their relationship work, my reason for this is when she said, “then I’ll do it because I don’t care about me”. That showed that she was disregarding her emotions nevertheless after reading more of the story and reading her responses to their conversation it changed my views, I believe that the girl in the story decided to keep the baby despite of the man’s constant pushing for the abortion. I don’t think they will stay together it was evident in the story that the man didn’t want the child even though he says to her “I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to. “ When have you made a important choice to stay in a relationship or leave a relationship -- OR -- stay or leave a difficult situation? I encourage you to write a scene that shows the moment. Consider using dialogue. One cold September night my friends and I decided that we would go to this well-known water party. At this time, we didn’t have to worry about tickets because we knew the guys that were keeping the party, when we arrived at the venue the music was blasting, the line to get in was LONG and people were already drunk and high. We went and met up with the guys but we still had to wait on one of our friends to arrive, while we were waiting one of the guy’s we’ll call him Andrew said “ hey do you guys wanna start the party out here while we wait” he then proceeded to pull out a bag of weed (marijuana), my friends and I looked at each other a little hesitant because we didn’t know how we would explain the scent to our parents so we just said “no thanks we’re good.” Andrew and the other guys shrugged and started to make their blunts, the person we were waiting on let’s call her Brenda finally arrived and we went inside the party. Once inside there were people getting sprayed with water hoses and people were throwing holi powder on each other, we went straight to the bar because what’s a party without drinks, Brenda decided she wanted to get high with Andrew and his buddies. After a couple drinks in everyone was having a good time dancing and singing along to the songs, Brenda couldn’t stay on her feet at this moment. I looked at my phone it was about 4 am, I wish we had just gone home but Brenda refused to leave so we found her somewhere to sit and we continued partying couple minutes later I turned around and noticed Brenda was gone. I tapped my friend on her shoulder and asked her if she saw where Brenda had disappeared she said no, everyone started to freak out and search for her everywhere. After searching for 15 minutes we saw Brenda dancing and kissing some dude, I went over and grabbed her but the guy wasn’t having it he yanked her back over to him. At this time, our guy friends had seen this and started to intervene, they tried to explain to him that Brenda was too out of it to consent to anything instead of complying he stepped forward and said, “fuck off she’s coming with me.” This pissed Andrew off the expression on his face changed instantly because this guy just disrespected him at his own party in front of his friends he pulled Brenda away and pushed her over to us. He pushed the guy to the ground and started punching him in the face his friends were trying to pull him off but had no luck during this time someone screamed “he has a knife” and everyone started running, he stabbed Andrew in his shoulder one of his friends knocked the guy out and It was at this time the police came rushing in. The police officers took Andrew and the guy to the ambulance that was outside waiting and rushed them to the hospital. We all went to visit Andrew in the hospital the next day and Brenda thanked us for finding her in time because the situation could have been much worst. |
